Vertical/Horizontal Scale
 

This is something I do a bit in my playing. I absolutely loves those long decending sequences. First got interested in this, also, from listening to "Tocatta and Fugue in Dmin". Altho the tab below doesn't have anything to do with that. This is a combination of vertical and horizontal scales. If you play it slow you'll see how I did it. The first figure is a short version of this combo. The second is long version. I made this one extra long so I could get my point across. Good luck.
